How will you motivate your new channel hires? Continuous Professional Development is critical.
A recent article by Channel Marketer Report highlighted the growing importance of certified training for those newly entering the channel profession. Employees need to know that employers are taking their career development seriously, and part of this is paying for certified training from accredited third parties. Training by internal employer "academies" is viewed as a positive, but not a motivator. This is especially true for new channel executives, who may have no formal channel training.
Michelle Chiantera, Cisco’s VP of Global Partner Marketing agrees: “I think that is fundamentally a challenge because people are coming out of universities without a foundational understanding of what an indirect selling model looks like.”
Proving career progression opportunities such as certification is a key element of the overall package of incentives for your channel team.
